Baltic Container Terminal – Connectivity

BCT connectivity grows markets

Latvia’s favourable geopolitical environment provides excellent business opportunities for reaching the four major growth markets that border Latvia: Russia, Estonia, Lithuania and Belarus. Riga’s location makes perfect sense for the development of logistics support to Russia’s industrial heartland and other CIS states because Riga carries developed rail and road networks to Moscow, Kaluga, Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Minsk, Kiev, Vilnius, Tallinn, Almaty and Tashkent. What’s more, Latvia is not only located at the centre of the Baltic States but it also represents the financial hub of the Baltic countries.

In fact, BCT has its own rail handling facility and direct rail access. It also has a good rail connection to Moscow with a transit time of just 36 hours. To increase that efficiency, BCT has rail-mounted container cranes that are used for the loading and unloading of the rail platforms. The terminal is ISPS-certified and incorporates all the necessary security measures to ensure a smooth-running operation at all times.
